The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation is the only federal agency whose sole mission is promoting preservation of America’s historic places. This Agency helps guide federal agencies in reviewing and addressing the effects of federal actions on historic properties. The ACHP also advises the President and Congress on historic preservation policy and fosters public awareness of the benefits of historic preservation
The National Historic Preservation Act, Section 106, requires federal agencies to consider the effects of projects they carry out, approve, or fund on historic properties.
